Modified Kenalog Protocol for Perianal Fissures- A Quasi Experimental Trial

Objective: To ascertain the role of triamcinolone injection at base an anal fissure and its effect on healing pain relief. Methodology: A quasi-experimental study was conducted from November 2021 to February 2022. Under aseptic measures, a 1ml Triamcinolone 40mg/ml administered using 1cc insulin syringe. This injected in four positions around fissure. Patients were followed for one week assess relief improvement quality life. assessed life satisfaction with treatment. offered lateral internal sphincterotomy end again follow up after two weeks given they not satisfied or symptom recurrence occurred. Results: Twenty five patients enrolled analysed. All fissures seen have red inflamed enrollment. At treatment, paler less signs inflammation observed. reported mean 70% their symptoms. change 16.45 points Brief Pain Inventory scores one-week up. 25% underwent sphincterotomy. The number needed treat 2.5. 5 lost follow-up initial follow-up. Conclusion: Injection may as adjunct standard management It has been shown decrease enhance thus decreasing need surgical intervention.
